In the world of traditional folksongs, the interpretation of the lyric is of prime importance. Blessed with a voice rich in natural tone, character and clarity, Colette Cheverie has that rare ability to captivate and transport the listener on a journey through the landscape suggested by the song. Enriched in a life surrounded by traditional Celtic music, Colette communicates her stories with passion drawing from her love for history and keen sense of belonging.
As an emerging solo artist from East Point, PE, Canada she has been gathering National recognition as the winner of the 2009 Traditional Singer of the Year Award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards as well as earning a nomination for Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year at the 2010 East Coast Music Awards. Recently, Colette has officially showcased at the 2010 Folk Alliance International Conference in Memphis, TN as well as at the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals.
