Lizzy Hoyt
Lizzy HoytLizzy Hoyt is an award-winning Canadian vocalist and songwriter who also happens to rank among the top instrumentalists in the country. Her music has been recognized on both the national and international level. She won “Best Female Artist” at the 8th International Acoustic Music Awards (a contest that saw over 11 000 applicants), was a 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award Nominee for Traditional Singer of the Year and has been named a finalist in both the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the USA Songwriting Competition.

Lizzy’s video for Vimy Ridge, shot on-sight in France, has netted 7 international awards including a Award of Excellence in Filmmaking & Screenwriting at the 2013 Canada International Film Festival, a 2013 Diamond Award at the California Film Awards, three awards at the Women’s Independent Film Festival in LA, and two awards from the Edmonton International Film Festival. In February 2013, Lizzy was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. She was nominated for her outstanding contribution to the commemoration of Canadian veterans through music.

Produced by Juno-award winner Jeremiah McDade, Lizzy’s latest folk CD “Home” features her as a Canadian ‘east-meets-west’ performer who combines the energetic and rhythmic fiddling from the Maritimes with country-folk songs from the west.

With a reputation as a first-rate performer, Lizzy’s shows feature a wide range of material from instrumentals and traditional Celtic songs, to her own Canadian-inspired songs and a few creative covers. Touring with a trio, she is a multi- instrumentalist playing the fiddle, guitar, mandolin and harp and shows a special aptitude for audience interaction. When you add to this some crowd-pleasing step-dancing, you really have the full package!
